The 75th World Foundry Congress(WFC 2024), hosted by the World Foundry Organization (WFO), will be held in Deyang, China from Oct. 25th to 30th, 2024. This is the third time that the Foundry Institution of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (FICMES) organizes the WFC after successfully holding the 61st WFC (1995, Beijing) and the 69th WFC (2010, Hangzhou). The theme of the event is "Developing Foundry". The Congress aims to provide a platform for experts, scholars, engineering technicians, and entrepreneurs in the field of cast metals to discuss the development trends of the industry, exchange hot issues, share research results and advanced technologies, in order to advance the development and progress of scientific research and application, and promote the development of the industry. The conference cordially invites experts from domestic and foreign universities and research institutions,scholars, entrepreneurs, and other relevant personnel to participate and exchange ideas.

The 75th World Foundry Congress gains great attention from Deyang Municipal Prople's Government. On the morning of April 18th, 2023, Mr. Lou Yanchun, Vice Chairman of the World Foundry Organization and President of the Foundry Institution of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (FICMES), and Mr. Qingwei, the Vice-mayor of Deyang, formally signed agreement in Deyang, Sichuan Province. According to the agreement, the two parties will facilitate the successful convening of the 75thWorld Foundry Congress with the promotion of the government and marketization operation.

Deyang has a solid foundation for the heavy equipment industry. Known as the “City of Heavy Equipment”, Deyang owns a number of leading enterprises such as Erzhong (short for Erzhong (Deyang) Heavy Equipment Co., Ltd.), DEC (short for Dongfang Electric Corporation), and DTC (short for Dongfang Turbine Co., Ltd.), etc., manufactures large-scale equipment such as nuclear power products, hydropower units, thermal power units, steam turbines, steel rolling machine and large castings & forgings for power station and marine, and serves both domestic and foreign markets. Characteristic Culture and Scenic Spots
Sanxingdui Ruins locates in Deyang, known as one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of the 20th century. It covers an area of 12 square kilometers and has a long history of 3,000 to 5,000 years. Numerous bronze wares with extremely complicated foundry technique were found in Sanxingdui Ruins. For example, techniques such as soldering, linking and riveting had been used to make Bronze Sacred Tree (one of important collections of Sanxingdui), which proves again that bronze smelting technology reaches its peak in the Shang Dynasty. Taking the last as a lesson for the present, Sanxingdui Ruins, as a station of post-congress tour, echo with the slogan of congress “developing foundry”. Delegates will be immersed in the glory of ancient foundry achievement.

Deyang also has various kinds of characteristic scenic spots, ecological and cultural relic reservation. For example, the Panda National Park, the cultural relics of Pangtong Temple in Baima Pass (the Three Kingdoms Period), Mianzhu new year pictures which is one of the four great Chinese new year pictures, etc.

Its famous attractions include Leshan Giant Buddha, Mount Emei, Dujiangyan Irrigation Project, Jiuzhaigou Valley, etc. Sichuan province is recognized as a gourmet paradise, and Sichuan cuisine, represented by hot pot, has entertained countless diners with its attractive color and changeable flavor. The 75th World Foundry Congress is going to set up several sightseeing tour routes. Delegates all over the world may visit Sanxingdui Ruins, Panda, Dujiangyan Irrigation Projector other sites to appreciate the local characteristic history and culture and beautiful natural landscape.
Convenient transportation
Deyang is the nearest city to Chengdu, deeply embedded in the half hour economic circle of Chengdu, and accelerating its integration into the one hour economic circle of Chongqing. The transportation planning of the central urban area of Deyang is "nine horizontals and nine verticals", realizing the goal of "10 minutes reaching urban high speed road, 20 minutes reaching expressway and 30 minutes reaching any place in the central urban area".
Two international airports located in the surrounding area of Deyang are Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport and Chengdu Tianfu International Airport. At present, 30 international routes and 40 international flights have been opened. After arrival in Chengdu, delegates can take bullet trains, about 23 minutes at the fastest, to Deyang.

Foundry Institution of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (FICMES), established in 1962, is a professional academic organization affiliated to China Mechanical Engineering Society. As an official delegate of China, FICMESformally joined the World Foundry Organization (WFO) in 1978. The secretaries ofMolding Materials Commission, Ferrous Metals Commission,Non-Ferrous alloys Commission and Die Casting Commission are set up in FICMES. FICMES is responsible for organizing and carrying out various exchange activities every year.
